Sophie Giovanoglou

Dr. Sophia Giovanoglou is a member of the Intellectum editorial board. After her graduation from the School of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she embarked on an LLM Course on “Equality Studies” at the University College Dublin.

She has been assigned since 2004 as a post-doctorate reseacher at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Between 2004 and 2009 she has co-ordinated the “DIODOS” and “CONTACT” Programmes, which aimed at bringing together young prisoners with law students of the Aristotle University.

Her doctoral thesis on “Institutional Problems of Social Reintegration of Ex-Offenders” was published in 2006 (Sakkoulas Publications) and in 2010 she edited the collective volume “Juveniles as Victims, Juveniles as Offenders and Detainees” (Nomiki Vivliothiki Publications).

She translated in Greek the book “Overcoming life’s disappointments. Learning from Moses how to cope with frustration” by Harold S. Kushner (2010 “logeion” Publications).

In 2005 she was praised in the Literary Contest of the “Poetry Symposium” (University of Patras) and in 2011 she received the 3rd Prize in (Greek) Poetry in the Literary Contest of the Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne.
