he need for thought and brainstorming on issues which concern and stimulate the attention of people today has urged young postgraduate students to create a journal and a webpage with forums in order to exchange views. With these two tools, the group hopes to provide a podium for expression to people from all fields with a view to promote the essential dialogue ‘against the submission and the alienation of our generation and society’ as they stress. Fifteen postgraduate students and Ph.D. candidates of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are involved in this initiative.
Topics and language.
As far as the journal is concerned, the aim of the society is the scientific approach of the topics, with articles written by university professors, university students and scientists. Nevertheless, this is achieved by the popularization of scientific notions, so that their content is indelible to the public. “As far as the topics are concerned, we act locally, while thinking globally. We aim to present the majority of the approaches, to enlighten various aspects of an issue, while trying to create a fertile brainstorming to our readers” Victor Tsilonis and Diamantis Kryonidis tell to the “ZO” magazine. The latter one adds: “The presence of many opinions or even methodologies in order to cover and comprehend better a field occurs also in the university
through various interdisciplinary Master and Ph.D. programmes”.
The journal was first published in 2001 under the title ‘Inter Pares’ and in about a month it is expected to be published under the title ‘Intellectum’ (= intellect, thought, concept). Almost 2,000 free copies are distributed in the city, in places like bookshops, hotels and universities.
The communication forum
A month ago, as an expansion of the magazine, the creation of a communication forum via the Internet appeared.

Topics as the modern European strategy on drugs and terrorism are presented in the “Inter Pares” publication, soon to be renamed “Intellectum”.
The cause of this was the possibility of a direct and two-way communication with persons brainstorming on contemporary topics . “With the forum, we are trying to communicate the message that technology- if used correctly- can bring people together and not alienate them, as it happens with the personal blogs in the Internet for instance” comments Victor Tsilonis. It is noted that the content of the conversation “rooms” is not tractable by the search engines on the Internet.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the effort of the journal’s publication and the forum’s creation is based in the volunteering offers of the society’s members.
