Athena Avgitidou is the managing editor of the Intellectum interdisciplinary journal & co-ordinator of the Intellectum Translation Project, i.e.the translation of published articles, essays and treatises from Greek into English and vice versa.

She holds a Bachelor degree as well as a Master in "Political Theory and Philosophy" from  the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).
After being granted a scholarship by the Greek Foundation of National Scholarships, she currently elaborates her PhD thesis under the title "The socio-political aspect of economic crisis: the myth and demythologization of self-regulation" at the same School.

Quite recently, she has commenced presenting papers in conferences held in Greece and Europe on issues regarding theories of political science, while she also participates in a social sciences' research project entitled "Transformations of citizenship in the national state and the European Union" ("Transformations de la citoyennete au niveau de l' Etat-nation et de l'Union Europeenne"). 

Contemporaneously with her above activities she is responsible for the proofreading of Ph.D. dissertations and the last two years she has also been working as a business consultant for a trading company in the department of international relations.

She is fluent in English and French.
